Team Training with Pilates

A Pilates Studio offers Team Training for athletes. Pilates training for athletes has been a growing phenomenon over the last 10 years and is one of the best forms of conditioning a serious athlete can participate in.

What potential improvements can an athlete anticipate from doing pilates workouts:

  • Improve runners' speed and endurance through core muscle development
  • Enhance hand-eye coordination for agility sports such as baseball
  • Increase balance for dancers and all athletes
  • Pain relief and decreased recovery time from injuries to the back, shoulder, neck, feet, and hamstring/glutes
  • Reduce muscle imbalance e.g. underdeveloped inner thigh muscles and overdeveloped outer thigh muscles
  • Athletes will run faster, hit farther and jump higher all without pain and injury to themselves
  • Increase mobility and flexibility to enchance performance in all sports
A Pilates workout helps to integrate the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle. Breathing is emphasized. With correct spinal and pelvic alignment and smooth flowing movement an athlete is allowed to access each part of his body individually thus becoming familiar with the functional mechancis necessary to be the best in his or her class.

A Coaches View

Pilates Team Training
Sandee's unsolicited time and passion to train the Arsenal girls U13 competitive soccer team has proven to be invaluable in their successful run during the 2009-2010 season.

During a preseason tournament game, Sandee had observed that the majority of the players were having trouble in competition holding on to the ball under the physical demands of the game. After 3-4 weeks of Yoga/Pilates training all the players' performances had dramatically improved. Their balance, speed and strength when battling for balls were quite obvious to the point that the girls looked forward to her training. Apart from being challenging, it was proven to be fun and to be a very effective team bonding activity.

Sandee's passion, commitment and top-notch knowledge of the discipline really helped the team reach the physical level needed to play the sport in southern California. We are thankful for her contribution in helping the team reach semi-finals during the Cal South State Cup run. I am sure Sandee has turned some the girls into life long students of the beautiful craft which is Yoga / Pilates.
